Long-Term Therapy
Long-term therapy includes more long-term goals. This therapy is undertaken at the client’s pace. Regular reviews will be done every three months to assess if this type of therapy is still the most beneficial for the client.
Short-Term Therapy
This is normally 6-8 sessions, which is more focused on goals. Therapy can always be extended if the client and therapist feel it is appropriate. Choosing this option during the assessment, does not mean this cannot be readdressed and therapy extended if need be/or if client wants this.
What to expect, a basic plan of action in short-term therapy looks like this: Weeks 1-2: Assessment, goal-setting, build therapeutic rapport (PCT). Weeks 3-6: Challenge negative thoughts using CBT. Weeks 7-10: Explore attachment patterns. Weeks 11-12: Integrate insights, develop coping strategies.
